March and Chillin'
March is a simple piece in D major that develops legato bowing and bow division in young players. There is a pizzicato section when the opening melody returns towards the end and the piece finishes with a lively countermelody in the 1st violins.
Chillin’ begins with a groovy syncopated pizzicato figure which is used throughout the piece. While slightly more challenging than March, it is a fun piece that helps students develop their rhythmic skills. The melody is shared between all the instruments throughout the piece. A guaranteed crowd pleaser!
